Learning to love and other late life adventures

Gifts come in odd packages, sometimes even in the shape of nine year old boys. Sixty-five year old ladies can be horribly obstinate and wary of obligations of the heart. Nine year old boys are all about the business of living and teach us 65 year olds a tremendous amount if only we let them. I would heartily recommend going out and finding one if you haven’t one already and attach yourself as tightly as possible. I had heard this advice from my grandchildren obsessed friends but did not heed it…having found myself in the heartbreak of losing step grandchildren in a divorce. Now I realize what a cruel act it was by a long ago ex husband and am amusingly angry. Oh well. The anger frankly will be transient as I am not capable of holding on to such things (other than sticking these few pins in this doll…what?!) But back to the nine year old at hand: he is teaching me a lot about love. Endless unconditional love. And it is a great gift. Despite the cautionary tales you might have heard, nine year old boys can heal what ails you, even if you had no idea you were hurt.
